Washing machine leak cleanup in Joliet often traces back to one part: the rubber supply hose. Those hoses get brittle with age and split without warning, and a burst hose can run the full flow of your supply line onto the floor until someone shuts it off.
Other causes are a drain hose that pops out of the standpipe, a clogged standpipe that overflows, or a cracked tub. Front-load machines can also leak slowly from the door seal.
Laundry rooms on the first or second floor are the bigger problem. Water runs under the flooring and into the ceiling below. Basement laundry rooms are easier, but the water still finds carpet in the next room and the bottom of any finished walls.
Our crew extracts the water, checks surrounding walls and floors with meters, and removes wet materials that can't be dried. Clean water from a supply hose is Category 1 and can often be dried in place if we get to it early. Drain water is Category 2, since it carries soap and whatever came off the laundry, so porous materials it soaked usually get removed.
After the cleanup, braided stainless steel supply hoses are a cheap upgrade worth making.
